Hello and welcome. I’m Ariel Kroon and I’m an independent scholar who wears a few different hats: I am a researcher, writer, editor, and podcaster. Sometimes I give workshops, guest lectures, or talks, and I have been known to moderate panels.
I currently live and work on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Haudenosaunee, and Anishinaabe peoples; whose land are you on? Find out at native-land.ca
What I’m doing now
I am one half of the team behind Solarpunk Presents podcast, where I and my cohost Christina De La Rocha interview guests working to make a better, more sustainable world, and critically analyze and discuss solarpunk as a genre and a movement.
I am research assistant with the Social Innovation Research Group, a cluster of scholars and students within the Faculty of Social Work at Wilfrid Laurier University. My duties include writing and editing grants and reports, assisting with research for literature reviews and courses, and providing linguistic expertise where needed.
I am a member of the Low Carbon Research Methods Network, a loosely affiliated network of scholars interested in examining how climate change not only stands to alter what we study, but how we do so. I am also Member-at-Large of the Association for Literature, Environment, and Culture in Canada (ALECC), SF Canada, and a part of the Women and Climate speaker database. I have extensive experience presenting work at academic conferences, fan conventions, as a solo speaker and as part of panels and roundtables, as well as teaching English Literature to undergraduates and ESL to adults, guest lecturing, facilitating workshops, and more.
